Beginner Group Surf Lessons in Las Canteras

Your first surf experience at Las Canteras. Learn to surf from scratch in a fun and safe way with your group.

Our Group Beginner Lessons are specifically designed for people who have never touched a surfboard before, or those who have had a very brief introduction and want to refresh the basics.

It is the perfect activity to build team spirit among classmates (schools and high schools), host corporate team-building events, guarantee laughs at bachelor/bachelorette parties, or simply enjoy a different kind of day out with friends.

The main goal is to learn the correct pop-up technique (Take-Off), understand the ocean, and, above all, have fun with total safety in the white water (foam zone)..

"It doesn't matter if you've never stood up on a board before; you'll leave the water feeling like a surfer."

SCHOOLS & HIGH SCHOOLS

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

Is it necessary to know how to swim for the beginner class?

Yes, it is an essential requirement to have basic swimming skills and feel comfortable in the water. Although beginner lessons always take place in areas where students can touch the bottom (the water will reach your waist or chest) and the foam waves will push you towards the shore, safety in an aquatic environment requires knowing how to swim.

What kind of boards do we use for beginner lessons?

We exclusively use "Softboards" or soft-top boards. They are made with soft, spongy materials on the outside and feature flexible fins. This ensures that if there is a small collision between group members or you get hit by your own board, the impact is completely harmless. They are highly stable and have great flotation, making it much easier to stand up on your first attempts.

Do we choose the schedule or does the school?

For beginner lessons, we depend 100% on the tides. At La Cícer, the best conditions to learn safely usually occur at low tide or mid-tide. Therefore, when you make your inquiry 7 days in advance, we will check the tide chart and propose the best time options of that day for your group.

What do we need to bring on the day of the lesson?

The school provides all the necessary technical equipment (board, wetsuit, and rash guard). You only need to bring a swimsuit or bikini (to wear under the wetsuit), a towel, sunscreen for your face, and plenty of enthusiasm. Lockers with keys are available at the school to store your valuable belongings safely.

What happens if someone in the group progresses faster?

Our instructors are fully certified and highly experienced. If anyone within your group of friends or company catches on immediately, the coach will provide them with advanced individual instructions (such as starting to turn or catching the foam wave before it breaks) while continuing to reinforce the basics with the rest of the group.
